WHO WE ARE
Voice to Power Lab builds community power by cultivating parent and community leaders who transform public systems.
We partner with Black, Indigenous, immigrant, multilingual, and low-income families across King, Pierce, and Thurston counties to turn lived experience into leadership, collective action, and influence. We believe the people most affected by public decisions should have the knowledge, relationships, and authority to help shape them.
HOW WE BUILD COMMUNITY POWER
Our work connects four strategies that move parent and community leaders from lived experience to collective action, influence, and shared decision-making.
LEADERSHIP
Build the knowledge, confidence, relationships, and skills to lead and influence change.
ORGANIZING
Turn individual experiences and shared concerns into collective action.
PARTICIPATORY RESEARCH
Community members help shape the questions, gather knowledge, interpret what we learn, and turn findings into action.
INSTITUTIONAL CAPACITY BUILDING
Build the capacity of institutions to partner with communities, share power, and put equitable practices into action.
OUR VISION
We envision a democracy where parent and community leaders are trusted partners in shaping public systems; where community wisdom is recognized as expertise; where institutions embrace shared governance and accountability; and where every child, family, and community has the opportunity to thrive.
